The San Diego edition of Retire Well Guides — an independent, research-driven guide to deciding whether and how to retire in San Diego County.
Retire Well San Diego is written and maintained by The Retire Well San Diego Team — a small editorial group, not a real-estate brokerage, senior-living operator, or lead-broker. We are not paid to recommend any community, provider, or neighborhood, and no partner sees our content before you do.
How we work
Every consequential number on this site — rents, home prices, taxes, healthcare costs — comes from published public sources, cross-checked against at least two of them, and re-reviewed quarterly. We never invent statistics, and where reality is a range, we publish the range rather than false precision.
Guides are answer-first: we lead with the honest answer, then show the evidence and trade-offs. San Diego is a wonderful and expensive place to retire; pretending otherwise would make everything else we say worthless.
What we are building toward
Today the site is edited under a house byline. As the publication grows we are adding named author profiles and licensed professional reviewers (fiduciary advisors, Medicare specialists) to consequential money and healthcare guides. Where a page has been professionally reviewed, the reviewer is named on the page.
