Editorial Policy

how we keep ourselves honest

The standards every guide on this site must meet before it is published — and to keep being published.

Sourcing

Hard numbers (costs, taxes, healthcare figures, population data) must come from published, citable sources — government data, regulators, established cost indices, or provider disclosures — and be confirmed by at least two sources before we print them. Local color and lived-experience detail may come from resident forums and local press, and is presented as perspective, never as data.

Accuracy and updates

Cost figures are re-checked on a quarterly cadence and each guide shows when it was last updated. When reality is a range, we publish the range. When we are uncertain, we say so on the page.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made before, and separately from, any commercial relationship. Some guides contain affiliate or referral links, always disclosed next to the link or module itself, and covered in our Affiliate Disclosure. No partner pays for placement, ranking, or a favorable verdict — and we do not publish ratings without a documented methodology.

AI assistance

We use software, including AI tools, to help research, draft, and check our work. Every published claim still has to pass the sourcing standard above, and a human is responsible for every page.
